somewhere in time

when you call my name..

i found out that yesterday my coworker maddy got fired. i guess she had an altercation with a customer. also, target boutique got hit hard by christmas? My blog

the other day i watched the lake house (again). it's such a good movie, like, seriously, up there in the my top 3 of favorite movies, with the illusionist and the count of monte cristo. it's adapted from the korean movie called il mare. it has a lot of negative reviews online. i know! what? someone in 2018 wrote, "any person who doesn't like this movie honestly just doesn't get it. it's sad for them. this film is romantic and feels oddly honest for it's fantastical quality. love it. it's adorable and sweet and it's ending should give you a little tear of happiness." i totally agree. and sure the time travel might not make a ton of sense, but it makes sense enough. sandra bullock is great in all of her movies. (my other favorites are the net and 28 days)

the scene where he knows her but she doesn't know him... My blog

i may be a little biased because the main character kate's favorite book is persuasion by jane austen, which is also my favorite book, and she described persuasion as;

it's wonderful. it's about, um, about waiting...

it's two people. they, uh, they... they meet, they almost fall in love but the timing isn't right. they have to part. and then, years later, they meet again and get another chance. you know, but they don't know if too much time has passed. if they waited too long. if it's, you know, too late to make it work.

that is basically the gist of persuasion. anne elliot wanted to marry captain wentworth but the elliot's friend, lady russell, convinces her not to marry him because he wasn't in a good station so therefore, in her opinion, would not be a good match. anne was persuaded not to marry him, which she regrets very much. later, wentworth becomes a captain in the navy and is looked upon as a desirable suitor. anne is described as plain and, now that she is 29, is on her way to becoming an old maid. although people do admire her intelligence, kindness, and level-headiness, her bloom that she had in her 20s is gone (their words, not mine.) but lo and behold, her bloom starts to appear again when she meets mr. william elliot. although mr. elliot really does admire her (he is actually a scoundrel if i remember correctly) wentworth is still single and she is hopeful that he still loves her. he has tried to forget her and failed, and secretly hopes that she still loves him too. If I was wrong in yielding to persuasion once, remember that it was to persuasion exerted on the side of safety, not of risk. When I yielded, I thought it was to duty; but no duty could be called in aid here. In marrying a man indifferent to me, all risk would have been incurred and all duty violated. My blog i'm looking forward to watching il mare.
